Step 2. Listen Up

Listen Up, is arguably the most crucial stage of the five stages of MDR.
This is because it develops "language awareness."
In Step 2, children look at the pictures with the text covered and listen to native speaker audio to 'guess' the story.

1. Listen to the native speaker's voice at a faster pace, then slow it down to listen again.

Listening at a faster speed and then slowly helps improve listening skills.

2. Focus on 'guessing' the entire story.

Encourage children to grasp the context and imagine the story, rather than worrying about terms like passive or active listening.
It's better to guess without being exposed to the text. Don't worry about writing down or interpreting everything correctly.
It's okay if they don't understand everything and just look at the pictures!
