Step 1. Warm Up

Warm Up, is where children become familiar with the key words of the book through games, images, and sounds. At this stage, the focus is more on the sounds and images rather than the text of the book. It's like a light warm-up before reading the book.

1. Please don't ask or teach your child what the words mean.

Asking or teaching directly can interfere with their English acquisition by removing the opportunity for them to guess or infer on their own. English is not about 'injection' but about self 'acquisition', so please avoid asking questions to confirm their understanding.

2. It's good to listen to the entire example sentence for each word before moving to the next.

If your child asks about the meaning, you can turn the question around:
“What do you think it means?”
If your child feels the need to know the meaning to be satisfied, you can suggest looking it up in the book later.
The better they tolerate ambiguity, the faster their English skills will improve!

3. Let your child do it on their own without parental intervention.

Tell them, "It's okay not to understand everything."
The most supportive parents are those who are patient and wait.
